EBBASA: EVOLUTION? - part 1
*Ebbasa 2001: Ebbasa is founded in South-Africa by Mr. and Mrs. Piet and Suzanne Sprinkhuizen. Mrs. Colembier is asked to manage the European secretariat.
*Ebbasa 2002: The website www.ebbasa.be is created and is put online. Several breeders join up with the new association because of the more strict breeding standard compared with the existing organization.
*Ebbasa 2003: The association is growing slow but steady. More and more breeders team up.
*Ebbasa 2004: The first appraisal on European soil is organized and turns out to be a big success.
*Ebbasa 2005: Multiple appraisals are organized in several European countries.
*Ebbasa 2006: The association continues it´s growth, breeders from all around the world are joining. The website is being redesigned and the domain is switched to ebbasa.eu.
*Ebbasa 2007: A new board is elected in South-Africa.
*Ebbasa 2008: The new board decides to allow multi-colored and semi-multi-colored dogs to appraisals. The founders of the association and the EU-members dislike this very much. The breeding standard is edited. Even dogs with strong Saint-Bernardus features are allowed.
A new Dutch breeder comes up with the initiative to organize - together with the elderly breeder/president and judge - private appraisals for Dutch breeders. None of these appraisals are properly announced, not even on the EU-website. The EU-sectretariat receives no notices nor invitations for these appraisals. The South-African judge is generous with high scores for the attending dogs.

EBBASA: EVOLUTION? - part 2
*Ebbasa 2009: More and more biting incidents with Boerboels occur. Ebbasa notices extremely frightened dogs, somewhat normal dogs and very aggressive dogs. Rumours are popping up that in specific bloodlines Rodesian Ridgebacks are being introduced by board members to ease and soften the real nature of the Boerboel.
Again, the Dutch breeder organizes her private appraisals for Dutch breeders with the excuse that it is otherwise impossible to judge all dogs in just one day and that this method is financially beneficial for the organization. An uninvited Dutch delegation is refused to attend a UK-appraisal and is forbidden to take any pictures of the appraisal. Two weeks after this incident, a UK-breeder has to deal with a police-raid and a house-search...
During the public appraisal in Portugal, again, the elderly South-African judge is throwing with points and percents. Two dogs that have been judged by SABT two weeks earlier, easiely get 10 tot 15% higher scores. Where has the credibility of Ebbasa gone?

EBBASA: EVOLUTION? - part 3
Various online forums and sites are displaying justified reactions. Let´s take this one for example:
" BB summer 10-08-2009
Hello Boerboel lovers,
Today it´s 10/08/09, and it is really summertime. I find myself in our office/boerboel maternity. The pups of Marboella Cleo and Marboella Dapper are 5 weeks old at the moment, so the can leave the warm nest themselves and are running around like little happy dogs. The come to mama 2 times a day for milk, the rest of the day is eat, pee, play, sleep. Puppy life is really a party! This saturday, several families came looking at the pups. Also Marboell O-Tanie - a little 4 months old bitch drops by from time to time. Its amazing to see that the age difference is only 12 weeks.

Meanwhile, SABT and EBBASA keep going seperate ways. There is no way to compare these organisations anymore. The scores given by both organisations for the appraisals in Portugal - only 1 month apart fin time - can illustrate this:

Quinta de Ramalhoa Carmelo 2007099809016 2007- 10-30 Male
SABT 83.2 EBBASSA 91.7
Quinta de Ramalhoa Caly 2007099809020 2007-10-30 Male
SABT 81.9 EBBASA 88.0
Quinta de Ramalhoa Amora 2007099809005 2007-03-16 Female
SABT 80.1 EBBASA 91.5
Quinta de Ramalhoa Ervilha 2008099809002 2008-03-23 Female
SABT 79.0 EBBASA 91.1

I thinks this is really getting out of proportions. The boerboel will be the main victim of this, at the end. I am really convinced that the current judging method with percentages is completely outdated.
See you next time,
Domien Coppelmans"

EBBASA: EVOLUTION? - part 4

During a public appraisal in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium the Dutch breeder insists on a re-appraisal for a Belgian breeder-friend. The official point for the dog in question were already noted on the ranking board in front of the big audience. Then, suddenly the nine month old pup of this Belgian breeder jumps from the 4th to the 2nd place! Great consternation amongst the boerboel breeders and the audience! On top of that, the EBBASA-secretary is forced to book some personal spendings from the South-African judge as official costs in the accountancy of EBBASA.
It really becomes obvious that EBBASA is heading the wrong way! On september,3 2009 Mrs. Colembier has had it completely and send an email to the South-African board in order to end the cooperation as long as this board is leading EBBASA.
This triggers a real hate-campaign against the EU-secretariat. Nightly and anonymous phone calls, verbal threads, a massive online registration of non-existing pups with fictive owners and fake mail addresses. A Dutch breeder files a complaint for theft of money and items... Obviously, she doesn´t tell the authorities who´s the real owner of all this, who organized appraisals all these years and who paid for the stay, food, transport etc. when the South-Africans came to Europe.

Meanwhile, EBBASA International has an unpaid balance of 33.469 euro towards Ebbasa Ltd. This amount includes the 1530 euro that the elderly president-judge demanded and received as a personal fee from the EU-secretariat during the appraisal in 2008. The official banknote of this financial transaction can be consulted by anyone who requests this.

EBBASA: EVOLUTION? - part 5

*Ebbasa 2010: Ebbasa South-Africa "operates" with a new judging system. Scores of 95, 96 and more are no exceptions, and occur very often. Let´s be honest: this is what you can expect when your best friends are judging your dogs, not?
The "BEST BREEDER" contest is organized in 2010. Guess who is going to win this one?
The private appraisal, organized by a Belgian breeder fails completely. Just a handful of dogs are present. At a private Dutch appraisal on the other hand, a crossbreed of a Dog and a Boeboel is presented and scores 91,30%! This dog was bread by accident and should only be kept as guard-dog or for it´s companionship. The owner of this bastard dog never presented an official birth certificate. No problem for the South-African board: they provided him an official Ebbasa International pedigree!!
